One-Dimensional (1D) Barcode Types
This kind of barcode represents data by varying the widths and spacings of parallel lines. These include UPC and EAN code types.
Universal Product Code is used to label and scan consumer goods around the world. UPC-A is used for marking products which are sold at retail in the USA. UPC-E is a variation of UPC-A which allows for a more compact barcode by eliminating "extra" zeros. The UPC-A variation encodes 12 numerical digits while UPC-E is a smaller variation, which encodes only 6 numerical digits.
